Pinching

What?: Pinching is one of the most ancient and direct method that human interact with clay. It consist of pinching a ball of clay with your fingers to create all kind of shapes. It's also a fun and easy way to introduce people to clay.

Step 1

To start you need; a nice ball of clay.

Step 2

With your thumb, push in the center of the clay to make a hole.

Step 3

Then with your finger tips rotate the clay in your hands and pinch up the walls. You have to try to make all the walls of the same thickness.

Step 4

Once you've pinched your ball, TADAM! you now have a bowl. Put your bowl on a flat surface to make its bottom flat.

Step 5

Once you've created your pinch pot, you can add all sort of texture, patterns, or for example that wonderful little red fish.
